Arsenal fans will love how Tottenham icon Gareth Bale responded to Champions League question

Tottenham Hotspur icon Gareth Bale was recently asked if his former side or Arsenal are currently closer to Champions League glory.

Neither Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur have ever won the Champions League.

Both sides have reached the final of Europe’s elite club competition on one occasion, with the Gunners missing out to Barcelona in Paris in 2006.

This season, Mikel Arteta led the North London club to their first Champions League final in 14 years. Whilst they were eliminated by Bayern Munich at that stage, Arsenal are a club on the rise and will be targeting European silverware in the coming seasons.

Arteta has promised Arsenal fans that silverware is on its way, and he will be desperate to get his hands on that famous trophy.

By contrast, their bitter locals rivals Spurs missed out on Champions League qualification this season, as they could only muster a fifth-place finish in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur icon Gareth Bale silent on Arsenal chances in Champions League

Gareth Bale is a Tottenham legend, having made over 200 appearances for the club across two spells, scoring 71 goals, in all competitions. However, he never won any silverware with the club other than the 2008 League Cup.

The Welshman knows all about what it takes to win the Champions League though, as he achieved the feat five times in his Real Madrid career.

In a video posted by Rising Ballers on Instagram, the 34-year-old was asked to choose between Arsenal and Spurs when it came to which of the two clubs will win the Champions League next.

Bale remained silent, refusing to answer the question. However, as the host of the video stated, “I feel like that’s Arsenal, right? His silence says it all.”

Can Arsenal win the Champions League?

Arsenal fans will be amused by this video, but will take far more enjoyment from seeing their club finally triumph on the biggest stage next season. Arteta has not produced an exemplary record in Europe throughout his managerial career so far, which is something he needs to amend if he wants to be considered amongst the elite.

Arsenal have what it takes to win the Champions League. Declan Rice has been tipped to inspire Arsenal to Champions League glory. If the Gunners can strengthen well in the summer transfer market then they will back themselves to triumph on the biggest stage of all next season.
