Celtic winger James Forrest explains hilarious photo with Kieran Tierney whilst on Scotland duty

James Forrest’s impressive end to the season continues after the Celtic winger won his 39th cap of the season for Scotland.

Appearing in the 2-0 win over Gibraltar, Forrest wasn’t at his brilliant best but still contributed to a morale-boosting win ahead of the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany.

Called up to the provisional squad by Steve Clarke, Forrest met up with his fellow countrymen last week but was captured in a hilarious photo with Arsenal defender and former Celtic teammate, Kieran Tierney.

And here, Forrest explains the story behind the snap.

Celtic hero’s Forrest and Tierney have ‘no airs or graces’

The great thing about this Scotland side is that there are prima-donnas in the side. Every single one of the players is down-to-earth and humble. Even those in the mega-money English Premier League.

And when snapped carrying his gear to the Scotland camp in a black plastic bag, Forrest explains why he did it.

Forrest said [The Herald], “A few folk sent that to me and had said about the French boys all turning up in their designer gear.

“It was just all my boots that were in there, it was easier to carry them in that.

“Then you see the photo of the French boys coming in next to me and KT’s, it’s quite a Scottish photo isn’t it?

“We’ve got no airs and graces, and I think me and KT are probably similar like that with our backgrounds.

“Nothing has really changed for us.”

The photo was very similar to Tierney turning up to one of his first Arsenal training sessions with his football boots in a plastic shopping bag.

Forrest now has another game with Scotland to look forward to. Facing Finland on Friday night, the Celtic winger will then find out alongside Anthony Ralston and Greg Taylor whether or not Steve Clarke will take him to the Euros in Germany this summer.
