Premier Sports announce groundbreaking SPFL coverage plans involving Celtic

Scottish Premiership TV coverage involving Celtic will have a different feel from 2024/25 due to an exciting broadcaster announcement earlier today.

Over the last few years, Sky Sports have held exclusive rights to show the top flight in Scotland, and the Bhoys have been a regular feature on the channel; however, that has now changed.

Last month, SPFL Chief Executive Neil Doncaster revealed the league had been fielding multiple bids for a 20-match package of league fixtures to be distributed on an alternative station, as per the terms of their new deal with Sky that runs until 2029. They (Sky) will air 60 games per season from 2024/25.

Now, fresh information has come to light regarding who has won the battle for the new bundle in an exciting update.

The latest on the battle for Scottish Premiership coverage

Earlier today, Premier Sports’ official X account took to the platform to reveal they have won the rights to show 20 Scottish Premiership fixtures from 2024/25 onwards in a five-year agreement.

Their statement read: “The Scottish Premiership is coming to Premier Sports. We are delighted to announce that we will be showing 20 league games per season for the next five years, starting from the 2024/25 campaign. Scottish Football: All. Year. Long!”

Presumably, Celtic will be involved in their coverage to some extent, though finer details of the agreement beyond what we already know haven’t been released at the time of writing.

Nevertheless, the Scottish top flight will now be aired on the channel for the first time ever. They already hold rights to select Scottish Cup matches and Scottish League Cup (alongside sponsoring the competition), but the venture represents a new milestone in their history.
