'Has high regard': Journalist says Hansi Flick actually really rates £43m Man City star Barcelona want to sign

It has been reported that Hansi Flick is an admirer of one Manchester City player who Barcelona wish to sign this summer.

The German replaced Xavi Hernandez, who has left the Catalan giants and will be determined to reinforce his side during the transfer window.

In recent years, Manchester City have sold the likes of Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero, Ferran Torres and Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona, while also sending Joao Cancelo on loan.

Now, it has been claimed by journalist Florian Plettenburg that Barcelona boss Hansi Flick holds Bernardo Silva in “high regard.”

The Catalan club intend to sign the 29-year-old in the summer and it has been claimed that they have a chance to secure his services.

The £43 million man tends to get linked with a move to Barcelona every summer and it is interesting that Flick rates him highly as well.

It was claimed on Friday that the La Liga giants are unlikely to have the sufficient funds to get a deal over the line for the Portuguese maestro.

In April, Fabrizio Romano provided a reminder that there is a £50 million release clause in the versatile attacker’s contract — which expires in 2026.

If Barcelona stump up the fee, Bernardo Silva could leave

Joao Felix revealed around two months ago that Bernardo Silva enquired about the places to live, the security and eating spots in Barcelona — suggesting he would like to work with Hansi Flick and Co.

In our view, the fact that the six-time Premier League winner’s contract extension even included a release clause is a sign that he was eventually considering a hassle-fee exit from City.

Considering Joao Felix also claimed Bernardo Silva always asks him about Barcelona, Hansi Flick may be granted his wish if his club can stump up the required fee. If not, this saga is set to be yet another long-drawn one including the European juggernaut and Bernardo.
