Cambridge United tie attacker Elias Kachunga down to new one-year contract

Elias Kachunga has agreed a new one-year contract with Cambridge United.

The former Germany youth international arrived at the Cledara Abbey Stadium last summer on a 12-month deal following his release by Huddersfield Town.

And after making 39 appearances in all competitions – scoring six goals in the process – the 32-year-old has now agreed terms on a fresh deal to remain with the U’s for another campaign.

Kachunga said: “I am delighted to sign a new contract with Cambridge United.

“I am really enjoying my time here and the city is even more special to me and my family now that my son has been born here. I am looking forward to the new season now and seeing all the fans once again.”

Meanwhile, United head coach Garry Monk added: “Elias was a key member of the squad last season and I am delighted that he has chosen to stay with us for another season.

“His experience and quality as a footballer and his personality are invaluable assets. I look forward to working with him again in 2024/25.”

Kachunga is the second Cambridge player to have put pen to paper on a new contract this summer after youngster Glenn McConnell.
