Igor Tudor steps down as Lazio's manager after less than three months

Croatian Igor Tudor has stepped down as coach of Italian Serie A club Lazio after less than three months in the job, the Rome side said in a brief statement on Wednesday.

The 46-year-old Croatian, who famously played for Juventus, had taken over from Maurizio Sarri in mid-March.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport and broadcaster RAI reported that former Lazio striker and 2014 German world champion Miroslav Klose was being considered as Tudor's replacement.

Before Tudor took over, Klose's name had also been floated as an option by local media, though the Gazzetta at the time had reported that the former German star had never been an option.

Klose, 45, has little experience on the touchline, having so far only worked as head coach in Austria for SCR Altach.

Marco Baroni, most recently the manager of Serie A club Hellas Verona, is considered the preferred candidate.
