Tony Adams suggests Arsenal duo are 'looking to move' after what Arteta did to them

Tony Adams has suggested that two Arsenal players could leave this summer after what Mikel Arteta did to them this season.

The north London side are set for another transformative transfer window with a number of new signings expected to be made along with several departures, with Arsenal ready to make some bold decisions.

Arteta has outlined his intentions for this summer with a striker and central midfielder the priority for Arsenal in terms of signings, with Benjamin Sesko the leading favourite to be the first new arrival.

Yet Arsenal legend Adams has now suggested that two players could soon leave.

Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe tipped to leave Arsenal

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the iconic Arsenal captain made the suggestion that Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe could both depart north London due to Arteta’s mismanagement of the pair.

The Arsenal manager has come under fire for his reluctance to give fringe players needed in games when the result is secured, and Adams now believes this could lead to Nketiah and Smith Rowe leaving Arsenal.

Adams said when asked about the duo: “They need to be playing, but if Arsenal aren’t going to get to Man City then they have to play. And if I have one criticism, and I’ve been very pro-Arteta, is that he’s not used them enough.

“Saka’s hardly coming off even when it’s 90 minutes after 90 minutes, when the game’s won at 2-0 with 70 minutes, get him off and get Smith Rowe on to develop and stuff. I think they’ve gone a bit stagnant, and if I was both of them, I’d be looking to move.”

Nketiah and Smith Rowe both have to leave north London for their careers

Nketiah and Smith Rowe are two success stories from Hale End that Arsenal can be proud of, with the pair coming through the club’s academy to play a key role for the Gunners in the last three seasons.

However, after last season, it’s clear that the duo are better off leaving north London for good to further their careers, with Nketiah and Smith Rowe hardly used by Arteta in 2024.

Indeed, whilst seeing the pair leave will be hard, Nketiah and Smith Rowe will depart Arsenal knowing they have bright futures ahead wherever they end up, with the Hale Enders good enough to thrive in the Premier League.
