Manchester City star Kyle Walker has admitted there is something he simply detests about being a footballer.
The England international is currently gearing up for Euro 2024, having just captained Manchester City to a fourth straight Premier League title.
Walker was one of the most-used players for Pep Guardiola in the 2023/24 season, making 47 appearances across all competitions.
At times, the 34-year-old struggled, and faced criticism for his performances. But it was still a decent campaign, which was his first as captain.
It was a long season, and it doesn’t stop for Walker with the Euros now on the horizon – but the star wouldn’t really have it any other way…

Walker is someone who just loves playing football.
Despite entering into his mid-thirties, the former Tottenham Hotspur man is still as passionate as ever about the game, and is always wanting to learn.
His hunger remains, and Walker sees it as a privilege to play for City and train with some of the best players in the world.
And as a result of loving football also much, he admits he actually hates it when he has to have a day off.
Speaking about the prospect of retiring, he said on his new podcast You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker: “It’s all I’ve known. It’s routine, I need a routine. It’s pointless me having a day off, because I’m constantly peppering people on what can I do.
“I don’t do days off, because I’m so used to doing something every day. When I have a day off sometimes it’s nice. But most of the time I actually don’t like it. I don’t enjoy it.”
Walker the workaholic
It is fascinating to hear Walker talking about his workaholic nature.
Premier League football is intense and it must undoubtedly require a huge amount of commitment and sacrifice. Sometimes, it probably is hard for players to just switch off.
Especially when the demands are so high, and there is a mentality built on winning.
And we know that at City there is a winning culture, and we have seen how relentless the team is. It would be no surprise if there were more City players who were the same as Walker – who City could seek to replace with Jeremie Frimpong – regarding days off.
