Man City player who made three key passes in 45 minutes delivered a star performance in latest int’l match

One Manchester City player put in an eye-catching performance in his latest international game.

With the domestic season now over, which saw the Citizens win their sixth Premier League title in seven years, numerous figures in the squad have now turned their attention to the upcoming European Championship in Germany.

Before the tournament officially kicks off next Friday, several friendly matches have been taking place this week to help the nations and their players get prepared for the main event.

Specifically, one match that took place last night saw one City player deliver a star performance on what was already a special occasion for him.

Making his 100th appearance for Belgium in their 2-0 friendly win over Montenegro, De Bruyne only played in the first half before being subbed off for Leandro Trossard at the start of the second period.

Throughout the first half, the Belgium captain not only scored the first goal of the night, his 27th in total for his country, but he also made three key passes and created two big chances for his side.

This display ultimately earned the midfielder an impressive overall match rating of 8.4/10 from SofaScore, making him the highest-rated Belgium player on the night.

Interestingly, the only player who featured in last night’s match who picked up a higher match rating than De Bruyne was the Montenegro goalkeeper, Matija Sarkic, who earned himself a match rating of 8.8/10 after making eight saves across the 90 minutes.

De Bruyne could be a top performer in the Euros

Taking all of that into account, it’s safe to say that it was a night to remember for the City star, who could well go on to be a pivotal figure for Belgium if he is able to play regularly throughout the Euros.

Looking beyond that to next season, if the 32-year-old can avoid any injury issues, like the hamstring problem that kept him out of action for near enough half of the most recent campaign, he could find himself having yet another successful season with City.
