The Israeli military conducted an air strike on a Hamas compound operating inside a school in central Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) took measures to minimize civilian victims, according to CNN.
Journalists conducted an analysis and reported that Israel carried out an airstrike on a school located in central Gaza using American-made weapons.
It is reported that the school was managed by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees and there were refugees at the time of the strike.
A spokesman for the Gaza Ministry of Health reported 45 deaths as a result of the strike. The Israeli military confirmed that it had carried out an airstrike targeting a Hamas compound operating inside the school.
What the UN says
The IDF reported that it had taken "many measures" to minimize the consequences ahead of the strike, including aerial surveillance and the use of "additional precise intelligence". Journalists have suggested that GBU-39 small-diameter bombs made in the United States were used for the strike.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees said that its school was “possibly hit several times” overnight by the strikes.
