Russian troops are striking Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region using thermobaric munitions that "destroy everything," according to a statement from Nazar Voloshyn, the spokesperson for the operational-strategic group Tavria.
"The enemy is using reactive multiple-launch rocket systems with thermobaric munitions in the area of Chasiv Yar. These are munitions that destroy and burn everything in their path," Voloshyn reported.
He specified that the Russian troops aim to deprive Ukrainian defenders of places where they can defend themselves.
According to him, the enemy continues attempts to break through in the Chasiv Yar area and conducts active shelling. Last week, the Russian army carried out 8350 shelling attacks on defender positions. Chasiv Yar itself was shelled 2300 times.
On June 6, 1100 enemy attacks from mortars and artillery were recorded in the Chasiv Yar area. The enemy shelled the city itself 302 times. Also, as of the morning of June 6, Russian aviation dropped 5 guided aerial bombs.
Voloshyn added that the Russian forces conducted three assaults, mostly using armored vehicles. Ukrainian defenders managed to eliminate 75 Russian soldiers, while 92 were wounded.
The spokesperson emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold Chasiv Yar under their control.
