European club's president says deal to sign £10m Leeds United player is almost done, nearly 100%

The president of a European club has confirmed that his side have almost completed the signing of a Leeds United player this summer, with a deal nearly at “100%”.

The 49ers will have to sell some players this summer in order to bring in some much-needed funds amid reports the club still owe a whopping £190m in transfer fees, though that is not all due in the summer.

The sales of Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra, as well as second-year parachute payments will help pay some of that back but realistically, some player sales are required to help bring that figure downwards.

One of the ways Leeds can raise the cash is by selling Victor Orta’s loan army. Robin Koch and Sinisterra will remove themselves from the club’s books this summer, but the other six will look to be moved on.

Marc Roca is one player that has been out on loan using Orta’s relegation clause and impressed. Now, Real Betis president Angel Haro has given an update on whether they will be re-signing the £10m man.

Real Betis president confirms deal close for Leeds man Marc Roca

Reports state that The 49ers are confident the club can sell Roca, Max Wober, Jack Harrison and Diego Llorente this summer with the quartet impressing while on loan at Betis, Gladbach, Everton and Roma.

It is claimed that Roca has agreed to rejoin Betis for another season, while Leeds are said to have reduced the price tag for Betis to get him permanently. It is unclear how much Betis would have to pay for Roca.

Haro has told Mucho Deporte a deal is nearly 100%, stating the only difference is whether the club will sign Roca permanently or just on loan: “Roca remains almost 100%, on loan or with another formula.”

Roca and Harrison are the two players that can go on loan

Phil Hay recently reported that only two of the players allowed to leave Leeds on loan using Orta’s clause last summer can go on loan again. Hay confirmed one of those was Everton’s Harrison, this summer.

Haro’s comments suggest that Roca is the other, which was always likely. It means that Leeds will now have the option to sell or loan Rasmus Kristensen, Max Wober, Brenden Aaronson and Diego Llorente.

Given the criticism that Orta has received, and the public frustration of Daniel Farke and Paraag Marathe of Orta’s loan clause, it is unlikely loans will be sanctioned. They will be allowed to go, but only for cash.
