Busch Gardens Tampa Employee Arrested For Sexual Misconduct With 8-Year-Old Child

TAMPA, Fla. - The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man for multiple counts of sexual misconduct involving a minor.

According to deputies, on June 4, 2024, HCSO was notified of an incident involving an eight-year-old victim and Douglas McGee, 34, a family friend and the supervisor of the victim's brother at Busch Gardens.

Through investigative means, detectives learned that McGee provided the victim with a cell phone and engaged in inappropriate messaging.

McGee admitted to inappropriate text messages, touching, and sexual battery.

On June 5, 2024, detectives issued an arrest warrant for McGee and arrested him without incident.

"Preying upon an innocent child and exploiting their vulnerability is deeply disturbing. My heart goes out to this child who was victimized by such a reprehensible individual," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our detectives are committed to ensuring that individuals like this cannot victimize our children. We urge the community: if you or someone you know has been a victim of this man, please contact law enforcement.”

McGee was employed as a part-time Park Quality Supervisor in Stanleyville at Busch Gardens at the time of the incident and arrest. He has been employed with Busch Gardens since December 2021.
