Kevin Harvick looked back at the time when the New York Yankees pranked him as he threw out the first pitch of a game. While speaking to former Yankees star Alex Rodriguez on his Happy Hour podcast, Harvick explained what happened with the pitch he threw that went just 32 mph.

“My good friend Gene Monaham set me up, and I believe it was 2011 or something when I went back and did it again,” the NASCAR legend said after mentioning he also threw out the first pitch at the Yankees game in 2001. “Everybody in the dugout said all you got to do is just nice and easy. Throw the ball over the plate. Just get it in the glove.

“I did exactly what they told me to do. I threw the ball nice and easy, nice little rainbow right into the glove. And I turn around and everybody is laughing hysterically at me in the dugout. I’m thinking to myself that was perfect, why are they all laughing? They had the radar gun turned on and turned the board up on the backside of the stadium and it said 32 miles an hour. I thought to myself, I have never been set up worse in my whole life than that particular situation to be made fun of by a whole Major League Baseball team.”

One fan showed love to Harvick on social media. The person wrote, “Now that is funny. Rather throw 32mph over the plate/into the glove then bounce one way short or some of the nightmare first pitches they’ve played over the years. All good Kevin.”

Kevin Harvick wants the NASCAR playoff waiver to go away

Along with reflecting on some fun times with Rodriguez, Harvick expressed his frustration with the NASCAR playoff waiver. On the podcast, the 2014 Cup Series champion said NASCAR should get rid of the waiver since drivers get in the playoffs if they win a race.

“The best thing that came out of this is Kyle Larson got the waiver as he should,” Harvick said. “And I think as I’ve said, it’s time to talk about whether the waiver is right. … There’s’ gotta be some guidelines. It can’t be everything and it can’t be just at the decision of a couple of people. It’s just gotta be more clear. I don’t like it at all. Like, I don’t like it for injuries. I don’t like it for childbirth. I don’t like it for anything.”
