Megan McCubbin divides BBC Springwatch fans with 'pre-watershed' innuendo: 'This is a family show!'

Springwatch's latest instalment divided BBC viewers after presenters were accused of dropping some cheeky innuendos, causing some to fume, "this is a family show".

Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan, Iolo Williams and Megan McCubbin were back on Thursday's show and expressed their excitement to see some "beaver action," which sent social media users into meltdown.

Strachan introduced Packham's stepdaughter McCubbin on the latest show by asking the camera: "Would you prefer to see Chris and his flies, Iolo and his badgers or Megan and her beavers?

"That's what she is hoping to see up in Scotland." Viewers then saw McCubbin, who talked live and enthusiastically about the creatures before asking the cameraman: "Have we seen any beaver action?"

The comments amused some viewers, while some hit back at the "playground humour".

Taking to X, one fan penned: "@BBCSpringwatch really 'Megan and her beavers!' Beaver action......Carry on #Springwatch."

"There are men from the age of 12 to 99 giggling because #SpringWatch now," a second shared.

Another wrote: "Absolutely love #Springwatch, but sometimes those innuendos are used & I burst into laughter like a child. Michaela: Do you want to see Chris & his flies or some Beaver action? *2 minutes later in Scotland* Megan: (*To the camera operator*) Have we had any Beaver action?"

"#Springwatch ‘ A lot of beaver action’," another added, while someone else quipped: "Megan's beaver action, well I never! #Springwatch."

"Wouldn't be #Springwatch without some beaver action..." another fan posted.

However, some weren't finding the double entendre very funny, with one person commenting: "Great success reintroduction of beavers to the UK. Natures engineers. Shame about the predictable playground humour on here. #springwatch."

"Actually the beaver is a cute animal, not sure what people mean on here. It's a family-friendly show guys#springwatch," another remarked.

"Another stated: "We're now going live to Megan for some beaver action! All before the watershed too, that's #springwatch!" (sic)

On Wednesday's episode, fans were distracted by something else as Strachan's eye-catching jumper caught people's attention.

The 58-year-old introduced the episode alongside co-star Chris Packham, and, hoping to lure some badgers into view of the cameras, Strachan was sporting her "lucky" pink badger jumper.

Strachan herself addressed the outfit on social media before the show started and again later on the live programme.

Posting a snap on X of herself and Packham, 63, which showed them both pointing towards her light pink jumper featuring a family of badgers, she penned: "Got badgers on tonight’s @bbcspringwatch and not just on my jumper!! See you at 8pm BBC2. #springwatch @ChrisGPackham."

Immediately, fans took to the comments section of the post, and others commented on the sweet outfit during the show.
