Chaos erupted at a protest outside Trump Tower in Manhattan on Thursday, where supporters of former President Donald Trump clashed with New York police officers after participants tried to unfurl a giant pro-Trump flag in the street, obstructing traffic.

Ultimately, after multiple and repeated warnings to get out of the street, officers arrested people behind the flag stunt, while Trump supporters raged and shouted them down. Some chanted "Let them go! Let them go!" One man in the crowd could be seen gesticulating and shouting "F--- the Blue!"

The protest was in response to Trump being convicted on 34 felony charges for falsifying business records, as part of a scheme to cover up an extramarital affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels from voters in the 2016 presidential election.

According to former GOP operative turned anti-Trump strategist Ron Filipkowski, one of the people arrested has been identified as Dion Cini, "the owner of a business that sells giant flags that people display at their homes, in boat parades, and at Trump rallies."

Cini has been involved in a series of stunts where he would unfurl giant flags at sporting events, which usually ends with the flag being confiscated and him being escorted from the premises. On one occasion, he deployed a "Trump Won" banner at Yankee Stadium, causing widespread disruption. He has also suggested Trump should be made the first king of a new hereditary monarch family in the U.S.

Trump's felony conviction at the end of last month is scheduled to move to sentencing on July 11. He is expected to appeal the sentence after it is handed down by Judge Juan Merchan.
