Fabrizio Romano says Manchester United have 'presented proposal' to £56m star, to hear back in 'crucial days'

Manchester United are waiting to hear back on the decision of in-demand striker Benjamin Sesko.

After trying to sign Benjamin Sesko in 2022, Manchester United are making a fresh attempt to bring the Slovenian to Old Trafford.

Two years ago United lost out amid a carve-up when Sesko was transferred from Red Bull Salzburg to sister-club RB Leipzig.

This time around it may actually be worse, with United at risk of losing the highly rated striker to a Premier League rival.

Benjamin Sesko has four options

Earlier this week Fabrizio Romano said Manchester United had ‘made contact’ over a deal for Benjamin Sesko.

Now, via an update on YouTube, Romano has explained that United have presented the club’s project to the striker, along with two rival clubs.

The first step is for Sesko to decide on an offer to stay at RB Leipzig, or not. And he will inform the club shortly.

Romano said: “Benjamin Sesko, the most important part is to decide the RB Leipzig proposal, bigger salary, contract extension, release clause to change in 2025.

“He has to tell RB Leipzig. probably this is the feeling, before the Euros, he will tell RB Leipzig if he will stay and extend, or leave and try a new experience.”

Regarding Manchester United’s approach, he explained that the Red Devils are competing against Arsenal and Chelsea.

He said: “Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, these three clubs have presented their projects, and now these three clubs are waiting to hear from Benjamin Sesko in the next days.

“All of these have different projects, different ideas, different vision, different plans, different kind of proposals in terms of financial plans.

“All of them are now waiting for Benjamin Sesko to decide. I can guarantee you, as of today, Benjamin Sesko is still not decided where he will go.”

Benjamin Sesko would bring goals to Old Trafford

Manchester United made an investment last summer to sign Rasmus Hojlund, but need another forward too. Adding Sesko into the mix would double up, adding a second striker with the potential to stay at the club for the next decade.

Sesko and Hojlund go head to head when their countries face off at Euro 2024 too. By then, they may know whether they will be teammates next season, or Premier League rivals.

Sesko has a £56 million release clause in his contract. At just 21-years-old, he would be a good investment, but Arsenal and Chelsea will both be putting together strong pitches too, and Manchester United’s lack of clarity over the manager might not help.

Sesko scored 18 goals in all competitions last season for RB Leipzig, and has 11 at international level in total for Slovenia.
