Houthi rebels attacked another merchant ship in the Red Sea near the coast of Yemen, reports Reuters.
According to the British security firm Ambrey, the explosion near the ship occurred on Thursday about 19 nautical miles west of the Yemeni port city of Mokha.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) received information about two explosions near the ship about 27 miles south of Mokha. No one was injured in the incident, the ship's crew is safe, and the vessel is heading to the next port of call.
It is unclear whether the Ambrey and UKMTO incidents were the same event.
The ship reported by Ambrey fits the profile of targets of Yemeni Houthi fighters, who have been attacking ships off the country's coast for several months. The ship was sailing from Europe to the United Arab Emirates and did not transmit an automatic identification system signal.
Shelling by Yemen's Houthis
Since the start of Israel's war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip in October last year, Iran-linked Houthis have begun targeting commercial ships passing through the Yemen area.
Recently, the Houthis launched rockets near the shipping route of a commercial vessel near the Yemeni city of Hodeidah. Terrorists also carried out six operations against American aircraft carriers and destroyers and three ships in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean.
At the end of May, American military forces destroyed a cruise missile launched by the Houthis in the Red Sea.
On May 18, the Houthis targeted the Wind tanker with missiles, which was sailing from Russia to China.
