French President Emmanuel Macron proposed to American leader Joe Biden to send military instructors to Ukraine. However, the US president declined, according to Politico.

Macron made the offer to Biden during a recent conversation.

He suggested that the US send military instructors to Ukraine to train Ukrainian troops in the combat zone. Macron had lobbied for this proposal previously.

Politico reported that the US president did not support the French leader's idea. Two individuals familiar with the conversation said Biden expressed concerns about the potential consequences of sending troops from any NATO country to a region where they might be on the front lines and could escalate the conflict.

Macron's offer

Previously, French President Emmanuel Macron did not rule out the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine. Recently, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said that France was ready to send military instructors to Ukraine to train the Armed Forces.

France, in turn, said that a final decision had not yet been made. Russia threatened France should it dare to send instructors to Ukraine.
