CNN national affairs correspondent Jeff Zeleny on Friday poured some cold water on a Trump supporter's hope that the former president would tone down his talk of going on a scorched-earth revenge campaign.

After playing footage of Wisconsin Trump supporter Tony Duckert arguing that Trump will do well in the coming weeks if he focuses on policy and not on his personal grievances about being found guilty on 34 felony counts.

"In one respect, it's like, 'Good luck with that,'" he said. "That's what Donald Trump does."

Zeleny then explained that Duckert said he supported DeSantis in the 2024 Republican primary on the grounds that he was ready to move on from Trump's nonstop drama, but he's now fully on board with the twice-impeached, quadruple-indicted convicted felon's third presidential campaign.

CNN political analyst Gloria Borger, however, said that these voters had no one but themselves to blame after watching Trump's behavior for the past eight years.

"All these voters who are saying, 'I wish he would just stick to the topics I like... I don't love the rhetoric,' well that's just never going to happen," she explained. "It's never going to happen. It's going to be about retribution and it's going to be about revenge and it's going to be about the rigged trial. And, you know, he talks about immigration but, you know, his campaign wants him to talk about other things and that's not who Donald Trump is."
