Weekend Weather Forecast: While recent rain has helped alleviate the wildfire threat, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Polk County for the weekend.

A low-pressure system moving across the state is expected to bring heavy rainfall, with some areas potentially receiving up to 5 inches. This could lead to localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas and areas with poor drainage.

In addition to the rain, thunderstorms are also expected, some of which could be severe. The NWS warns of potential damaging winds, large hail, and even isolated tornadoes.

Safety Precautions: Polk County officials urge residents to stay informed about the weather forecast and take necessary precautions, such as preparing for power outages, avoiding flooded roadways, and securing outdoor items. The Polk County Emergency Management Division is closely monitoring the situation and is ready to respond to any emergencies.
