Children Accused of Setting Kitten on Fire in Disturbing Houston Torture Case: 'Suffered Greatly'

A shocking video shows a burning kitten running down a Houston street after two children allegedly deliberately set it on fire in a sickening attack.

Witnesses called 911 during the overnight incident early Thursday.

Deputies arrived at the scene and the SPCA rushed the cat to a facility for treatment but had to be euthanized due to the injuries.

"The video was terrible. I mean, that cat burned for a while and suffered greatly," Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen told KTKR-TV.

Animal Cruelty Investigators and Houston SPCA both learned that the boys lived in a home with other animals.

Concerned for the safety of the other animals, police obtained a warrant to seize of any animals located at the property.

Nine animals, including seven puppies, were found in the backyard on Thursday. Five of the puppies were found in the same small cage.

Rosen said the animals were all in bad shape. He said they were found locked up in cages without access to water or food.

The Houston SPCA is now caring for the animals. It says the animals are "receiving the medical attention and care they desperately need.

Authorities say the investigation into who actually tortured the kitten is ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, it will be handed over to the Harris County District Attorney's Office for possible charges.
