"A just peace still requires more," Zelenskyy said in his speech to the French National Assembly on June 7.
"This is not a reproach. This is the way to overcome evil. We must do more today than we did yesterday, so that tomorrow we will be closer to peace than ever before."
He noted that ending the war requires the efforts of countries on all continents, not just in Europe.

Zelenskyy called the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland a new D-Day — Diplomacy Day — which could become a format for bringing a just end to the war in Ukraine.
"We have never relied on the power of arms alone," the Ukrainian leader said.
"We have always focused on diplomacy. Putin rejected a diplomatic solution by launching a full-scale war and choosing an attempted genocide of Ukrainians over dialogue with Ukraine. That is his choice. And we need the unity of the world to overcome it."

The Ukrainian President arrived in France on June 6 to participate in the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings. He is expected to meet with Emmanuel Macron and French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu on June 7.
Global Peace Summit in Switzerland
The Global Peace Summit, set to take place in Switzerland at the leadership level, will be held on June 15-16.

107 countries have confirmed their participation, Ukrainian President’s Office reported on June 3.
Russia will not be attending the meeting.
While Russia could participate in future sessions, it will not be part of the inaugural leaders' meeting, Ukrainian President’s Office head Andriy Yermak said.

A peace process without Russia is “unthinkable”, The Swiss Foreign Ministry has claimed.
Expected attendees include German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron, and other European leaders.
Vice President Kamala Harris will represent the United States, replacing President Joe Biden at the Summit.
Ukrainian intelligence confirmed Russia’s intentions to disrupt the Peace Summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on April 24.
China declined to participate in the Global Peace Summit, Reuters reported on May 31, citing sources.
China later officially confirmed its absence from the meeting, with Zelenskyy alleging that China is also attempting to dissuade other countries from attending the Summit.
