Femke Bol help Dutch team to mixed relay bronze at Euro championships

Femke Bol helped her Netherlands team to win bronze in the 4x400 metres mixed relay at the 2024 European athletics championships in Rome on Friday.

The three-time European championships gold medallist received the baton from Isaya Klein Ikkink when the Dutch team was in fourth place and had a stunning performance to close a large gap and take bronze.

Ireland took gold with the fastest time of 3 minutes 09.92 seconds, while hosts Italy secured bronze.

At last year's world championships in Budapest, Bol had a huge heartbreak as she fell within metres of the finish line, while vying with Alexis Holmes of the United States for first place.

Bol lost the relay baton over the finish line, as Netherlands couldn't legitimately finish the race.

On Friday, she had a split time of 49.21s, which made her the fastest female competitor in the mixed relay final.
