Poland's striker Milik to miss Euros following knee injury

Poland's side will have to make do at the Euro 2024 without star striker Arkadiusz Milik, who has been ruled out of the tournament after sustaining a knee injury during their tune-up match against Ukraine.

Poland claimed a 3-1 victory against Ukraine, but the Juventus striker got injured early on in the friendly and had to be replaced after four minutes.

"Milik won't go to the Euros," Poland's national coach Michal Probierz confirmed during the post-match press conference.

Milik, 30, played in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen and FC Augsburg before moving on to Ajax Amsterdam.

Following stints at Napoli and Marseille, he has been playing for Juventus since 2022.

Milik had been considered as an option for the attack alongside Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski.

Poland kick off the Euros on June 16 against the Netherlands before also facing Austria and France in the group stage.

They will play their final tune-up match against Turkey on June 10.
