Kate, Princess of Wales, has rebounded from her fight with an unknown type of cancer, which required "harsh" preventative chemotherapy treatment once discovered in February.
"She's tolerating this preventative chemotherapy better," veteran royal commentator Katie Nicholl told an outlet. "I think she had a hard time in the beginning. These are strong drugs that she's on, but she's she's tolerating it better, and she's doing better."
"We've had reports from members of the public that she's been out and about," she added. "I've heard from certain people that... she's out with the children. That's a really positive sign."
This positive news comes amid Prince William being asked by a World War II veteran at June 6's D-Day commemorations in Normandy, France, if Her Royal Highness was getting better. "Yes, she'd love to be here today," William answered. "I was reminding everyone her grandmother served at Bletchley Park, so she had quite a few in common with some of the ladies here who were at Bletchley."
"Of course, it's inevitable that he's going to be asked about Catherine, because I think we look at an event like that, where you've got the royals out in full force, and we feel her absence very strongly," Nicholl said of the Prince of Wale's reply to the veteran.
The future queen's recovery means that we may not see her at this summer's annual royal traditions such as Trooping the Colour, Royal Ascot, or Garter Day.
The next Queen Consort of Britain underwent a "serious" abdominal surgery on January 16, which led to traces of cancer cells being found allegedly near the area of the procedure. Her Royal Highness has been receiving treatment in the wake of the discovery, which she revealed in an "emotional" video via BBC Studios on March 22.
New reports suggest the Princess of Wales "may never come back" in the role we saw her in for the past 13 years. Kate has not been seen nor participated in any royal appearance or event since Christmas Day 2023.
She was subject to a "bizarre" online trend earlier this year known as "Where's Kate?" in which online commentators and even mainstream media analysts and pundits participated in conspiracy theories about her disappearance from public life.
"She has made it very clear that she wants to stay out of the spotlight," Nicholl observed. "She needs this period and below the radar for her recovery. We're so used to seeing her up on that balcony."
Nicholl concluded: "It's going to feel very different without seeing her, so I'm wondering if perhaps we might see the Wales children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis."
