The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday’s lottery drawing has rolled back to $20 million with a cash option of $9.4 million after a lucky winner in Illinois hit Tuesday’s $552 million jackpot.
The winning numbers were: 3, 5, 12, 22, 66. The Mega Ball drawn was 7, with a Megaplier of 4X.
In addition to the jackpot winner in Illinois, two second-prize tickets were sold for Tuesday’s drawing — a $1 million ticket in Maryland and a $285,828 ticket in California.
California lottery prizes vary depending on ticket sales and number of winners. They differ from the fixed second prizes offered in other participating states.
Both second-prize tickets on Tuesday matched five numbers but not the Mega Ball.
Tuesday’s winning Mega Millions numbers were: 19, 37, 40, 63 and 69. The Mega Ball drawn was 17, with a Megaplier of 3X.
The jackpot had been growing since someone who bought a ticket at ShopRite in Neptune Township won the massive $1.13 billion prize on March 26. It’s the biggest prize ever won in New Jersey and the eighth largest in U.S. lottery history.
Theodds of a $2 ticket winning the Mega Millions jackpot by matching five numbers and the Mega Ball are 302,575,350 to 1.
Players have a 1 in 12,607,306 chance of a ticket matching five numbers but not the Mega Ball and winning at least $1 million. The odds of matching four numbers plus the Mega Ball for a prize worth at least $10,000 are 931,001 to 1.
Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is worth an estimated $206 million, with a cash option of $95.7 million.
