New woodland area at Swaffham’s Sacred Heart school unveiled in 2014

In our weekly Memory Lane Schooldays feature, we look back at the unveiling of a school’s woodland area in 2014…

A new woodland area was unveiled at Swaffham’s Sacred Heart School, in June 2014, remembering a Swaffham woman who was killed in the Asian tsunami disaster a decade earlier.

Louise Willgrass, 43, had been on holiday with her family in Thailand at the time of the Boxing Day disaster.

She had been a former pupil at the school and the woodland area was formally named in memory of Louise.

Her parents, Mike and Jane Cornwell opened the new facility and are pictured here with the school’s headteacher, Sister Francis Ridler and members of the Little Pedlars pre-school group.

Swaffham Rotary Club and Louise’s sister Sally raised the £5,000 for the project.
