One killed, two arrested in IDF West Bank operation, Palestinians say

A 22-year-old man was shot in the back and killed during an Israeli army operation in the occupied West Bank, a hospital in the city of Tuklarem reported on Saturday.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also detained two people during the operation in the nearby town of Anabta, Palestinian media reported.

When asked, the IDF said it was investigating the reports.

The situation in the occupied West Bank has worsened significantly since the start of the war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip on October 7.

According to the local health ministry, more than 500 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations, confrontations or their own attacks since then.

The war started when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip, killing about 1,200 people and taking some 250 hostage.

The Hamas-controlled health authority in Gaza has said so far more than 36,550 people have been killed and a further 82,959 have been injured in the war.
