Woman killed in broad daylight in Punjab's Mohali, accused held

Mohali (Punjab) [India], June 8 (ANI): A man was arrested for allegedly killing a woman by attacking her with a sword in Punjab's Mohali on Saturday, said the police.

According to the police, the assailant attacked the woman while she was on her way to the office.

"In Punajb's Mohali today, a man attacked a woman with a sword, after which, she died. We have arrested the accused. He has been identified as Sukhchain Singh. Proper action will be taken against him according to legal procedures," said Davinder Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector.

However, the accused's motives have not been ascertained yet, added ASI Singh.

Meanwhile, Raj Lali Gill, Punjab Women Commission Chief, told ANI, "A woman was going to her office and when she got down from the bus, she was attacked by a man with a sword...The man had done something similar (attacking the same woman) 7-8 months ago. He was given a warning and was also punished...The police have caught him...The woman has died...I have given my contact number to the woman's parents".
