Dog of the Week: The latest dogs looking for their forever homes from Newbury Dogs Trust

Dogs Trust Newbury has a number of dogs at its Hamstead Marshall base who need a new home.

And every Sunday we have been shining a spotlight on one or two of them to try to help spread the word.

Could you give Penny her forever home?

Nationwide, the charity currently has 765 dogs that are looking for a family to join.

You can find out more about adopting a dog by visiting the charity’s website.

This week we’ve got the beautiful Penny to introduce you to.

Penny is a one-and-a-half-year-old lurcher, who enjoys her walks where she gets plenty of opportunities to sniff and watch the world go by.

The charity said it is looking for a calm home for her, with adopters who can continue to help her grow in confidence.

She could live with other dogs of a calm demeanour and similar size and older children who are used to dogs and respectful of Penny's size.

Penny needs a new home

“She can be a little reserved with strangers, although if you have food she will quickly be your best friend so a quieter home with adopters who are around for the majority of the time would suit her best,” staff at the rehoming centre said.

She cannot live with cats or small furries however.

Penny is looking for her forever home.

She is described as a “sweet girl” who enjoys interacting and socialising with dogs of a similar size when out and about.

Newbury Dogs Trust added: “Penny loves to chase her favourite rope toy but equally loves to pretend to be a lap dog by climbing up on her favourite people’s laps!”
