Car ploughs into TY-8 restaurant on Northdown Road in Margate

Dramatic pictures reveal the moment a car ploughed into a restaurant, smashing into its shop front.

TY-8 on Northdown Road in Margate is closed until further notice following the crash overnight.

Police, ambulance and fire services were called to the Asian restaurant just after midnight, after the silver Ford mounted the pavement and hit the building.

It is not yet known if anyone was hurt in the incident.

Posting about the crash on social media, bosses said: “We are closed for further notice. Sorry for any inconvenience.”

Customers expressed their shock over the incident, with one responding: “Sorry to see this happen. Hope nobody was hurt and restaurant business is restored quickly.”

Another said: “Goodness me, this is awful to see. I’m so sorry.”

Others offered to help with the clean up.

A spokesman for fire said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 00.15am to reports of a vehicle crashing into a business on Northdown Road, Margate.

“Crews were there to assist Kent Police and SECAmb so please contact them for further details.”

Police and ambulance have been asked for comment.
