‘World-class’ player Liverpool want to sign told he can leave his club this summer

Liverpool simply must be in the market for new players this summer given their ambitions to progress.

The Reds did clinch silverware last season in the form of the League Cup, but ultimately fell short in the league and elsewhere.

Both Manchester City and Arsenal finished ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League table, although importantly Champions League football was secured.

The Reds are now back in the big time, and so must already be looking at new talent in order to help them compete successfully among Europe’s elite.

It remains to be seen, however, both how much FSG are willing to back Arne Slot, and indeed in what areas he wants to improve.

One player that is on their radar is Joshua Kimmich, with Liverpool planning on continuing their push for the Bayern Munich man.

His contract with the Bundesliga club expires next June, with Kimmich approaching 400 appearances for the German giants.

Fellow stars Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry are also on the list of potential exits, but it is Kimmich that is interesting the Reds.

Liverpool should pursue a move for ‘world-class’ Joshua Kimmich

Julian Nagelsmann has earned a lot of respect in his managerial career so far, and the boss was definitely right when he labelled Kimmich as a ‘world-class’ player.

The player would be a superb addition to the Anfield club, with his experience for both Bayern Munich and Germany certain to boost Slot’s chances of success.

Moreover, the 29-year-old is comfortable at both right-back and defensive midfield, with such versatility set to be welcomed with open arms by the manager.

The latter position at Anfield could definitely open up this summer, with Wataru Endo potentially moving on after just one season in red.

Fellow midfielder Thiago has also left Merseyside following the expiry of his contract, meaning a new midfielder is likely to be on Slot’s list of priorities.
