Arsenal could now be in the clear to sign Mikel Arteta's 'dream' £50m signing

Arsenal could reportedly be in the clear to sign a long-term Mikel Arteta transfer target heading into next week’s summer window.

The Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules have been a massive talking point this year following unprecedented points deductions to Everton and Nottingham Forest, with more potential penalties on the horizon.

Whilst Arsenal are expected to clear the Premier League’s guidelines, the likes of Aston Villa, Chelsea and newly-promoted Leicester City could all face potential punishment if they are unable to sell players before June 30th.

And this could now put Arsenal in a great position to land a top target.

Arsenal on alert over Douglas Luiz with Villa facing PSR blow

According to TalkSport, Arsenal are monitoring Douglas Luiz’s situation at Villa with Unai Emery’s side potentially looking into selling the Brazilian international to comply with PSR rules before the end of this month.

A player once described as a ‘dream signing’ for Arteta, Luiz has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal for some time, with the Gunners believed to be in the market for a new midfielder this summer.

And with news now emerging that Villa could be forced to sell Luiz to comply with PSR rules, Arsenal could have a clear shot at signing the former Manchester City talent in the coming weeks.

Indeed, Arsenal fans will be hopeful that the Gunners can complete their summer business as early as possible, and signing a midfielder as exciting as Luiz would tick that box and then some for supporters this month.

Gunners have to take advantage of Villa’s PSR woes to sign Luiz

Premier League clubs are feeling the might for the league’s financial rules for the first time in a big way, with more point deductions likely to be dished out next season with so many teams under pressure to comply within the restrictions.

And for Arsenal, they have to take advantage of Villa’s PSR woes in their bid to sign Luiz, with the Gunners long-term admirers of the Villa Park star, who could finally be on the move this summer.

The Brazilian could be well-suited in the midfield three alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, and having developed well under Unai Emery, Arteta could now be the man to take Luiz to the next level.
