Fabrizio Romano brings West Ham fans back down to earth with £24 million transfer claim

Fabrizio Romano has just brought the West Ham United fans back down to earth with his latest transfer claim.

West Ham fans have been glued to the X account of Fabrizio Romano this summer in search of updates on any transfer news.

Julen Lopetegui is keen to get the majority of his business all wrapped up before the start of the Hammers’ pre-season campaign.

The Spaniard has a serious amount of work lying ahead of him at the London Stadium this summer, when it comes to player recruitment.

He has an ageing and unbalanced squad at his disposal, after David Moyes’s poor planning over consecutive transfer windows.

One of Lopetegui’s main priorities should be to strengthen his attacking department. It was claimed that the Hammers are closing in on a deal to sign Luis Guilherme.

That’s great news, but now some bad news has emerged in equal measure…

Fabrizio Romano brings West Ham fans back down to earth

There is huge excitement emanating from the London Stadium right now, with Lopetegui having replaced David Moyes in the Hammers hot-seat.

The Spaniard is apparently eyeing up eight new signings this summer, and it is such a refreshing change to see the club trying to get their business done early.

However, West Ham are still yet to make an official signing.

And an update has been provided on our chase to sign one of the most exciting young talents in the game.

Romano has told Caught Offside how West Ham have an interest in signing Atletico Madrid ace Samu Omorodion.

However, there’s some bad news for the Hammers fans to digest.

The Italian said, “There have been many other names mentioned in the media – Samu Omorodion, Rwan Cruz, Simon Banza – and we will see many links, but they’re not something really close now.”

West Ham were said to have made a £24 million bid for the 20-year-old striker, with an extra £9 million in add-ons.

Omorodion is a huge talent, and has been described as ‘Spain’s next top striker’, by well-known football analytical website Breaking the Lines.

I would love him at West Ham, but the update from Fabrizio Romano certainly isn’t an encouraging one.

This will be one to keep a close eye on over the next few weeks and months.
