At around 17:15, local Telegram channels reported explosions in Kharkiv. At 17:45, the mayor of Kharkiv said that a strike was recorded in the city in the area of private residential buildings.

"Several houses were damaged. Information about possible victims and injured is being clarified,” Terekhov said on his Telegram channel.

At the same time, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration clarified that the strike was carried out by a guided aerial bomb. According to him, a fire broke out after the hit.

Shelling of Kharkiv

Kharkiv, as well as the Kharkiv region, suffer from Russian shelling due to its close proximity to the border with Russia. The Russians usually attack Kharkiv with S-300 systems or guided bombs.

The situation with the shelling of the city has escalated against the backdrop of the Russian offensive in the north of Kharkiv region. Thus, in May, Russians attacked Kharkiv 76 times. This figure is three times higher than the number of attacks recorded in April.

However, Russians have not recently fired at Kharkiv with S-300 systems. This may have been influenced by the decision of NATO countries to allow Ukraine to use Western weapons on Russian territory. Read more about this in RBC-Ukraine's article.
