Tackle is a massive need for Kentucky in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Finding true high school tackle prospects has been an issue for the Wildcats. Offensive line coach Eric Wolford and the Kentucky coaching staff recorded a significant recruiting win on Sunday.
Top-500 tackle Darrin Strey did not leave his official visit with Kentucky before committing. The Wildcats locked up the Paw Paw (Mich.) High product this weekend.
“After lots of thinking and praying, I have decided to commit to the University of Kentucky to be a part of the Big Blue Wall,” Strey posted on X.
Kentucky now has seven commitments in the class of 2025 with six of those being offensive players. Darrin Strey is the fifth top-500 recruit to join the haul and the second lineman joining Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier senior Tucker Kattus. In what was a big line of scrimmage weekend for the program, Strey became the first commitment from the weekend.
After his commitment, Kattus informed KSR that Darrin Strey was a top target for Kentucky. Despite later official visits scheduled with Wisconsin and Stanford in June, the Wildcats locked up the top-10 prospect in Michigan. The high three-star recruit also picked the Wildcats over Cincinnati, Illinois, and Northwestern.
Wolford’s first recruiting win was a big one. Kentucky’s offensive line recruiting focus now turns to Taren Hedrick and Isaac “Spike” Sowells Jr. after each wrapped up an official visit in Lexington and saw a potential future teammate commit to the Wildcats.
