Ukraine has already taken advantage of the United States' authorization to launch strikes against the Russian Federation, states US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

Sullivan said that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have already taken advantage of the partial authorization to use American weapons against Russia.

"What I will just say is this, from the President's perspective, this was common sense... When they (the Russians - ed.) were moving from one side of the border directly to the other side of the border, and it simply didn't make sense not to allow the Ukrainians to fire across that border, to hit Russian guns and emplacements that were firing at the Ukrainians,” the US presidential adviser said.

He also emphasized that the United States will continue to support Ukraine in holding the line and repelling aggressive Russian forces.

"And one thing I will point out is that the momentum of that operation in Kharkiv has stalled out. Now, Kharkiv is still under threat, but the Russians have not been able to make material progress on the ground in recent days in that area,” Sullivan added.

Authorization for strikes against Russia

In recent months, Ukraine has been actively discussing with its partners the possibility of launching strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Not long ago, Ukraine received such permission from US President Joe Biden. After a long debate, the United States finally authorized the attack on military targets in Russia.

France and Germany have also given similar authorizations.
