Ukraine and the United States are preparing a bilateral security agreement that will truly demonstrate American leadership, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“We are preparing new agreements for Ukraine with European partners, in particular with Germany, on additional steps of support,” the President said.

He explained that in recent days, attention had been focused on the preparation of a bilateral security agreement between Ukraine and the United States.

“We are doing everything to show America's leadership. I thank everyone who helps!” Zelenskyy emphasized.

This year, Ukraine began to sign bilateral agreements with partner countries. Each of them is special and tailored to the needs of Ukraine and the partner country.

Britain was the first country to sign such an agreement with Ukraine. On Friday, January 12, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak arrived in Kyiv on a working visit. During the visit, he met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the leaders signed a historic agreement between the UK and Ukraine.

Canada, Germany, France, Denmark, Italy, Finland, the Netherlands, and Latvia have also signed similar agreements with Ukraine.

Earlier, the Financial Times noted that there is a possibility that Zelenskyy and US President Joe Biden could sign a security agreement at the summit in Italy.
