Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek four-star cornerback Dalen Penson has committed to Georgia Tech, he announced Sunday evening on social media.

Penson is fresh off a visit to Atlanta this weekend. He has an official visit scheduled to Kentucky for June 21, but it is unclear if that will change with his commitment.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound Penson is the nation’s No. 153 overall prospect, No. 18 cornerback and No. 21 recruit from Georgia in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Penson told On3 in April that development would be a major factor in his decision.

“I’m pretty much going to be looking at how easily I’ll be able to get developed,” Penson said. “I want to see what my college career will look like in the long run, based on what I’ll look like when I get there and after I get there.”

Georgia Tech, one of the best academic schools in the nation, certainly has the capability to set up its graduates outside of athletics.

“I want to go to a school that’s going to help me get to the big stage, along with getting me better,” Penson said. “Then, the last thing outside of those two big heavy hitters would be development. How can a school develop me as a man off the field, and as a man on the field, and help me out? Not only in the near future, but in 20, 30, 40 years away. I want to go to a school that will set me up for the rest of my life.”

Penson said that he believes his athleticism and competitiveness are his biggest attributes on the field.

“My greatest strength is definitely my athleticism,” Penson said. “Also, my urge to be competitive. I always like to one-up my opponent and I like to be the best player I can be on the field at all times.”
