'I just want to say' – Man Utd star sends emotionally charged message to 'legend' who he learned 'so much from'

Manchester United misfit Jadon Sancho has inked a heartfelt tribute to a “legend” who took him under his wing in his professional playing career.

Jadon Sancho is set to return to Old Trafford this summer after his six-month loan spell with German side Borussia Dortmund comes to an end.

The 24-year-old Manchester United winger re-signed for Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window after he was frozen out of the Red Devils first team.

Sancho, who is under contract with Dortmund until 30th June, had fallen out with Erik ten Hag last September after the United manager publicly criticised him.

Erik ten Hag had revealed why Sancho was not included in his matchday squad for United’s 3-1 Premier League defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates.

Sancho wasted no time in hitting back on social media and the United loanee was subsequently excluded from the United first-team squad.

The former England international was handed a lifeline in the January transfer window after Dortmund agreed a loan deal with United.

Sancho pays tribute to former teammate

Jadon Sancho impressed at times during his loan spell with Borussia Dortmund, with the Manchester United winger scoring three times in 24 appearances for the club.

The ex-Three Lions winger, who managed only three appearances for United last season, played a key part in Dortmund’s run to the Champions League final.

However, Sancho failed to make his mark in the Champions League final and Dortmund suffered a 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid at Wembley earlier this month.

During his return to the Westfalenstadion, the United misfit was reunited with Dortmund legend Marco Reus.

Marco Reus, who played alongside Sancho in the Englishman’s first run at the club, made his exit from Dortmund this summer after an illustrious playing spell.

Sancho took to Instagram and posted a heartfelt tribute about the 35-year-old German and admitted he “learned so much” from him both on the pitch and off it.

“Farewell to a BVB Legend [sic] and My Big Brother [Marco Reus] as you start your next chapter I just want to say thank you for everything you’ve done for me,” he wrote.

“You took me under your wing and I learned so much from you both on and off the pitch.

“I am forever grateful for everything you taught me and it was an honour to play with you.

“I wish you and your family all the best for the future, see you soon brother!”

Sancho on his Dortmund exit

Sancho’s long-term future at Old Trafford remains in doubt amid his rift with United boss Erik ten Hag and his refusal to reportedly apologise to the Dutchman.

It is believed that United are keen to sell Sancho, who is under contract with the Red Devils until 2026, in the summer transfer window.

Sancho sent a heartfelt tribute to “amazing club” Dortmund after the Champions League final defeat and thanked fans for their support on his return.

“I want to thank everyone involved at such an amazing club,” he wrote in an Instagram post this month.

“I can’t thank you enough for welcoming me back the way you all have during these last [six] months.

“Thank you to Edin Terzic, Sebastian Kehl and Hans-Joachim Watzke for believing in me and bringing me back.

“Finally a special thank you to the BVB fans. Your support is amazing and I’m forever thankful for you all!”
