No player performed better at the Overtime OT7 7-on-7 championships this weekend than Notre Dame quarterback commit Deuce Knight. At least that’s what On3 director of scouting and rankings Charles Power and national scout Cody Bellaire believe.
On Sunday, Power and Bellaire named Lucedale (Miss.) George Country’s Knight the MVP of the OT7 championships in Tampa, Fla. The 6-foot-4½, 208-pound Knight was the starting quarterback for Coastline Stars.
“Deuce Knight was the clear top quarterback on hand at the OT7 Championship and carried his team on a surprise run all the way to the tournament’s title game,” Power said. “The 6-foot-4.5, 208-pounder made an array of impressive throws over the final two days of action and seemed to get better each day. Knight’s arm strengthstood out. He pushed the ball vertically and threw with velocity to the boundary and into tight windows over the middle of the field.
“While he had two interceptions in the title game, his location and decision-making was among the best on hand over the course of the event. By the end of Sunday, he was consistently getting to his third or fourth read and delivered with general accuracy. We also got a few glimpses of his athleticism as he turned on the jets for some long gains when blitzed.
“While the event was not loaded with other top arms, Knight’s showing has to be taken as a positive has he heads into the Elite 11 Finals and his senior season at Lucedale (Miss.) Greene County. The Irish pledge ranks as the No. 54 overall prospect in the 2025 On300.”
In addition to being the No. 54 overall player in the class, Knight is also On3’s No. 6 quarterback and No. 4 prospect in Mississippi. He has been verbally committed to the Fighting Irish since Sept. 18, 2023.
Knight will return to South Bend from June 14-16 for his official visit. He has visited campus nine teams, including most recently for the program’s Irish Invasion football camp on June 2.
