March golfers contest club championships

The annual March Golf Club 36-hole Club Championship took place over the weekend.

After playing the 36 holes on probably some of the best greens in Cambridgeshire, Lewis Hearn and Gary Neugebauer was tied, so the match had to go to a three-hole play-off that was eventually won by Hearn.

Club captain, Jeff Dunham, is seen here presenting the trophy to Lewis Hearn.

The Handicap Championship, run in parallel, was won by Nick Carter with a net score of 140.

Competition secretary, Derek Wisbey, stated that the tricky pin positions and the exceptional speed of the greens meant that with a few exceptions, participants struggled to score well over the two days.
