Liverpool could trigger release-clause to sign ‘dominant’ Euro 2024 defender

Liverpool are on the lookout for new signings this summer and could now be tempted to trigger the release-clause of a Euro 2024 star.

The Reds are looking to back Arne Slot in the transfer market this summer and are expected to look at strengthening a number of positions.

With Michael Edwards back leading the charge, any transfers will be thought out in great detail.

And according to reports from Portugal, Liverpool could now trigger the release-clause for one of Sporting Lisbon’s star men.

Liverpool consider triggering £51m release-clause for Goncalo Inacio

According to a report from A-Bola over in Portugal, Liverpool are among the clubs considering making a move for Inacio this summer.

The defender is seen as one of the hottest prospects on the market this summer and has a number of clubs chasing him.

Manchester United are believed to be keen on Inacio as well, while Liverpool are also being kept in the loop over the defender.

However, Liverpool will need to pay the full £51m release-clause for Inacio, with Sporting Lisbon in no mood to entertain anything less than that clause.

Described as a ‘dominant‘ central defender, Inacio is also on the radar of Real Madrid and is expected to play a key role for Portugal over the summer at the Euros.

The Reds are looking for a new defender this summer and at 22, Goncalo Inacio does tick plenty of boxes for the club.

With Joel Matip moving on and Ibou Konate struggling with the odd injury as well, a new centre-half is on the agenda.

Inacio has had a superb period of late with Sporting and would come into Anfield as a player already accustomed to winning trophies.

All eyes, then, will be on the Euros from Reds fans when it comes to Inacio and Portugal.

If he does well, then Edwards and co might well decided to trigger that clause before the tournament even finishes.
