Nothing just teased its cheapest phone yet

Nothing has released a teaser image for it’s next smartphone, which the company says is “coming soon”.

However, this won’t be the Phone (3), which has been confirmed for 2025 instead. Instead, it’ll be the first smartphone from CMF by Nothing, a sub-brand of the main company.

Nothing is yet to reveal anything concrete about the phone, but rumours suggest it’ll hit the market in July at a price below $300, making it an even more affordable option than the £319/€329 Nothing Phone (2a).

When it comes to the design, the teaser image showcases a device in orange and with a leather-like texture. However, last week, Nothing also teased a matt black version of the phone.

It appears that the company has incorporated a dial in the bottom right corner of the back, the purpose of which remains unknown. On the left side is the rumoured ‘Nothing Lock’, which is thought to allow users to attach accessories such as a wrist strap.

Leaks from MlgmXyysd and Technerd on X indicate that the phone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor. This 4nm ARM chip is expected to include two ARM Cortex-A715 cores clocked at up to 2.8 GHz and six Cortex-A510 cores at 2.0 GHz.

Despite its expected affordable price, the CMF Phone 1 is reported to boast a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, 8GB of RAM and from 128- or 256GB of internal storage.

What’s more, the phone is said to sport 50Mp rear and 16Mp selfie cameras,a 5,000mAh battery supporting 33W fast charging via USB-C and a user-swappable plastic back.

Besides the confirmed orange and black colours, it might also be available in green and blue finishes, with orange variant potentially exclusive to select markets.

As a reminder, the Nothing Phone (2a) features the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro paired with 8- or 12GB of RAM and 128- or 256GB of storage and a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. It also has a 5000mAh battery, but offers faster 45W charging.

CMF Phone 1 could therefore be a real bargain for anyone who didn’t like the rather bold (even by Nothing’s standards) design of the Phone (2a). However, it remains to be seen just how many compromises are made.

With no Phone (3) before 2025, this is the only other Nothing smartphone we expect between now and the end of the year.
