Arsenal now on red alert over 'powerful' £25m Tottenham target, his club want him gone

Arsenal are reportedly on high alert over the future of a £25m player wanted by Tottenham, who could be sold by his club this summer.

The transfer window is just days out from opening, with Arsenal expected to be one of the busiest clubs in the market as Mikel Arteta aims to add to his talented squad and sign the players needed to overtake Manchester City in the title race.

With Benjamin Sesko strongly linked with a move to north London, it’s clear that Arsenal are trying to work as fast as possible to bring in the right signings, a tactic that has worked wonders over the last two summer transfer windows.

And the Gunners could now be in a good position to move for a reported target.

Arsenal keeping tabs on Tottenham-linked defender Lutsharel Geertruida

According to De Telegraaf, Arsenal are keeping tabs on Lutsharel Geertruida’s situation at Feyenoord, with Liverpool and Tottenham also believed to be interested in the £25m-rated defender.

Praised as a ‘powerful’ athlete, Geertruida was in fine form for the Rotterdam club this season with the Dutch international scoring an incredible nine goals from defence in all competitions, as well as registering five assists.

Able to play right-back and centre-back, Geertruida’s contract with Feyenoord expires next year with the Dutch giants keen to sell the defender this summer with the 23-year-old making it clear he doesn’t want to renew with the Eredivisie side.

Indeed, although Arsenal are in the market for a new defender, Geertruida’s profile might not be exactly what the Gunners are looking for, with competition from Premier League rivals also making a potential deal uncomfortable.

Gunners could struggle to land Geertruida this summer

Geertruida heads to the Euros as one of the players who could quickly become a household name with the right performances for the Netherlands this summer.

And if the defender shows up at the Euros, Arsenal could struggle to sign Geertruida, with Premier League interest already high in the Dutch international from Liverpool and Tottenham.

Whilst missing out on Geertruida won’t be the end of the world, the 23-year-old could be a good addition to Arsenal’s squad, which is why seeing the defender move to a rival club could be painful.
