Ogun begins sale of subsidized rice to pensioners

Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has extended the sale of subsidized rice to pensioners in the state.

The Head of Service (HoS), Mr Kehinde Onasanya, made this known on Monday while monitoring the sales to members of the Local Government Pensioners Association of Nigeria, LOGPAN, at its secretariat in Ita Oshin, Abeokuta.

Onasanya noted that bringing the rice to the doorsteps of the pensioners was to eliminate any hardship they may likely face in purchasing the commodity.

He encouraged the retirees to take advantage of the gesture and added that the administration genuinely cares about their well-being.

State Chairman of LOGPAN, Pastor Benedict Ademoye expressed gratitude for the Governor’s initiative and emphasised that it would significantly lessen the pensioners’ suffering during this time of rising food prices.

Also, Mrs Bernice Lawal, Chairman of Retired Primary School Teachers in the state, said this was the first time such a gesture would be extended to her members since she retired from active service in 2009.

She thanked the governor for his efforts to ensure that their retirement was comfortable for them.
