When you play a game of thrones, you win or you die. When you market a show about it are you real or are you fake?

HBO scored a viral marketing win ahead of the launch of the new season of "The House of the Dragon."

Videos altered by CGI showed massive "Game of Thrones" themed banners on landmarks in various cities including New York.

Both the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges were used in the faked videos, sparking a frenzy on social media.

The Game of Thrones X account reposted a video on Monday captioned, "The Brooklyn Bridge has been claimed for King Aegon II," referring to one of the characters set to appear in the upcoming second season of the hit show. The Green banners refer to one side of the fictional conflict playing out in the TV series.

The video showing the Manhattan Bridge had black banners unfurled, referring to the other side.

"House of the Dragon," (HOTD) is a prequel televison series set some 300 years before the events that took place in the original "Game of Thrones" (GOT) HBO series, based on the books written by George R.R. Martin. The second season airs on Sunday, June 16.

The terms "team green" and "team black" quickly went viral, which refert to the fictional waring sides of the same ruling family, the Targaryens, who are set to clash in the upcoming season.

New York City wasn't the only location used for the CGI videos. Chapultepec Castle in Mexico was "claimed" by team black, according to HBO's X account.

Meanwhile in Brazil, Sugarloaf Mountain's gondola was "claimed" by team green.
