A fire has broken out on the Russian large anti-submarine ship Admiral Levchenko in the Barents Sea, according to the head of the Strategic Communications Center of the Southern Defense Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk.

He noted that the "struggle for survivability" continues on the ship.

According to Pletenchuk, the cause of the fire is that the Russians cannot independently service the ship's engines, which were made in Mykolaiv (Ukraine).

"Ten years were not enough to solve this problem. One of the installations caught fire," he added.

The spokesperson for the Operational Command South also mentioned that the ship's crew consists of several hundred sailors.

It's worth noting that the ship Admiral Levchenko was launched in 1985. Since 1989, it has been in service with the Russian Northern Fleet.

"Attack" on the landing ship in the Sea of Azov

Recently Western media began spreading information that Ukrainian defenders struck a Russian landing ship of the Ropuha type in the Sea of Azov.

Later, Pletenchuk reacted to this information, noting that the rumors do not correspond to reality.
