Former President Donald Trump spoke out on his Truth Social account on Monday to endorse a number of Republican politicians — with the backing of one in particular standing out.

"It is my great honor to Endorse a Strong Conservative Voice for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District," wrote Trump. "Nancy Mace worked hard campaigning across South Carolina in support of our Record-Breaking WIN. In Congress, she is fighting to Secure the Border, Strengthen our Military, Support our Veterans, Uphold the Rule of Law, Stop Political Weaponization, and Protect and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment."

"Congresswoman Nancy Mace has my Complete and Total Endorsement! South Carolina, Get out to Vote TOMORROW!" Trump concluded.

This comes as Mace (R-SC) has come under fire from members of her own party, including from other Trump loyalists. She alienated much of the caucus when she joined the small group of renegade Republicans who voted to oust former Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from the House Speakership, an event that triggered weeks of infighting and chaos among the GOP. She later tired to justify that vote by accusing McCarthy of sexism.

Furthermore, she enraged allies of the former president when she voted to refer longtime Trump ally Steve Bannon for contempt of Congress.

Reporting has indicated that GOP strategists on Capitol Hill have been baffled by Mace's political decisions and don't understand what she's trying to accomplish.

Meanwhile, Mace has faced further political complications amid reporting of staff abuse, including the use of Capitol Police to intimidate her former chief of staff, and a burgeoning ethics investigation over her reimbursement requests for an expensive townhome in Washington, D.C.

Members of her own staff also ratted her out to the Washington Post for a story about excessive expense claims.

She faces off in her primary against Catherine Templeton, who previously served in the South Carolina state government. Polls suggest that Mace could be forced into a runoff.
